A number of apps in the App Store will send a fax for you, and some will receive one. Their pricing works in very different ways, and the differences are worth knowing before you pick one. FaxTerra is usually the cheapest, and it does everything the others do.

One fax today, and then nothing

A long document, once
A page pack. FaxTerra’s run $1.99 for 10 pages, $4.99 for 30, and $9.99 for 100, which works out to $0.10 a page. Pages do not expire, so a leftover balance waits for next time. You need to receive a reply
A plan with a number included. FaxTerra Starter is $4.99 a month with 50 pages covering both directions. Fax Burner’s free inbound tier is real, at 25 pages a month, but the number it issues lasts 24 hours and then rotates, by their own description, so it cannot go on a form, a business card or an intake sheet. Several apps sell receiving as a separate subscription from sending, so compare the total rather than the headline.
Heavy sending, inside one week
A weekly plan genuinely fits. This is the case those apps are built for, and the cheapest weekly purchase in the survey is $3.99 from FAX from iPhone (Municorn). Set a reminder to cancel, because the cost is never the first week. Note what unlimited means in the contract: Municorn’s terms allow page limits “even if not explicitly stated in your plan” and describe the subscription as a daily page allowance.
Faxing to another country
Check coverage before you pay. FaxTerra reaches 27 countries on credits or a plan, and the free monthly pages cover the US and Canada. Fax Burner sends to the US and Canada only, by their own FAQ. Genius Fax names 46 destinations and charges the same rate for every one of them, which is the widest coverage among the well-rated apps here.
The four ways a fax app charges you
Two faxes a year is the usual pattern, and the four models price that person very differently.
Weekly unlimited
You buy a week of unlimited faxing and it renews until you stop it. In our August 2026 sweep of the App Store, 20 of the 37 apps whose purchases we could read sold at least one plan billed by the week. That is the category default, and it is why two faxes six months apart can mean either two weeks bought and cancelled or a year of charges. The arithmetic is worked out app by app on what fax apps cost across a year.
Monthly or annual plan
The same idea at a longer interval, and usually better value per fax if you send regularly. Watch for apps that price sending and receiving as two separate plans, which doubles the standing cost for anyone who needs both.
Credit packs
You buy credits and spend them as you send. A credit is not a page. Before buying, check whether the vendor says what one credit covers, because several do not, and a pack of fifty credits is not necessarily fifty pages. Genius Fax is the one in this table that publishes the ratio: their help pages state that one credit sends or receives one page, at the same cost for every country, which puts their packs between $0.99 and $0.40 a page.

You buy pages, and a page is a page. This is the only model where the cost of a document is knowable before you send it. FaxTerra’s rungs are $1.99 for 10 pages, $4.99 for 30, and $9.99 for 100, the cheapest per page among the App Store apps whose purchases state a page count.

Nearly every fax app is free to download and charges for the faxing. Where a free allowance exists at all it is usually granted once, so the word covers three very different promises.

Fits. A week of heavy faxing, bought deliberately and cancelled deliberately.
The limit. Every purchase on the listing with a printed billing period is weekly, from $3.99 to $7.99, and the standard rate on their pricing page is higher still. The free tier is one page, once. Their terms reserve page limits that are deliberately not published, so unlimited is a fair-use promise rather than a number.
FaxFree (BP Mobile)
4.78 stars, 170,923 ratingsThe second-largest iOS fax app by rating count, sold as unlimited faxing on a weekly subscription.
Fits. Scanning and sending inside a week, if you will remember the renewal.
The limit. The name promises a free fax and their own materials document none: the terms put faxing behind a premium subscription. Only one of the ten purchases on the listing states its billing period, at $4.99 a week, and the publisher runs no pricing page at all, so what you will be charged is not knowable before the paywall.
Fax Burner

Fits. US and Canada faxing where receiving matters and you want the best-rated app in the category.
The limit. Free receiving is real at 25 pages a month, but the free number rotates every 24 hours, and free sending is 5 pages for the life of the account. The cheapest permanent number is the $12.99 monthly plan on the App Store, with no per-page option beneath it. Their FAQ states the service is not HIPAA compliant.
Genius Fax

Fits. Occasional sending without a subscription, especially with wide international coverage.
The limit. Receiving costs twice: a number subscription from $3.99 a month plus one credit for every page received. There is no free tier, and their help pages state that a lapsed number cannot be reserved again, so a missed manual renewal loses the number.
iFax

Fits. A business that wants faxing alongside document editing and signing from one vendor.
The limit. Sending and receiving are separate products on iOS: $34.99 a month to send, $9.99 a month to receive. There is no free tier, purchased credits expire after 12 months by their terms, and a page is defined by transmission time rather than by the document.
Fax with TurboFax (Piksoft)
4.87 stars, 15,690 ratingsOne of the few apps that sells purely by the page, with no subscription on the listing at all.
Fits. A single short fax with no plan and no credits to reason about.
The limit. It cannot receive faxes at all, and the per-page rate climbs steeply at the small end: the published figures run from $1.00 a page on the 2-page pack to $0.37 on the largest. Their first page is free, so for a one-page fax they beat everyone here.

How do I cancel a fax app subscription on my iPhone?
Open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, choose the app and choose to cancel. Deleting the app does not cancel anything, and billing runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.
