What Fax Apps Cost
The best-known iPhone fax apps charge $3.99 to $9.99 a week, and they renew until you cancel, which puts a year at $207.48 to $519.48. That is not a rare tier: in our August 2026 sweep of the App Store, 20 of the 37 apps whose purchases we could read sold at least one plan billed by the week.
A single fax should cost a few dollars or nothing. Below: every weekly price multiplied out, and how to stop being charged.

Weekly fax plans, annualized
20 of the 37 apps in the full survey sell a weekly plan. These 7 are the best known of them.
| App | Publisher | Weekly price | A year at the cheapest weekly tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| iFax | Maplewoods Associates Ltd | $9.99 | $519.48 |
| Fax from iPhone (LUNAPARK) | LUNAPARK MEDYA | $9.99 | $519.48 |
| FaxFlow | Mobile Flow Ltd | $9.99 to $14.99 | $519.48 |
| FAX for iPhone: Send & Receive | 7270356 Canada Inc | $6.99 to $8.99 | $363.48 |
| FaxFree (BP Mobile) | BP Mobile LLC | $4.99 | $259.48 |
| Tiny Fax | TinyWork Apps | $4.99 to $6.99 | $259.48 |
| FAX from iPhone (Municorn) | Municorn Limited | $3.99 to $7.99 | $207.48 |
| FaxTerra Starter | Developing Media LLC | Not billed weekly | $49.99 |
Every price in that table is an auto-renewing subscription, by the vendors’ own terms. BP Mobile, who publish FaxFree, write that “All subscriptions available for purchase within the Apps are auto-renewable.” Municorn’s store listing says a “Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.” Tiny Fax’s terms say the same. So a week is not what you buy. A week is how often you are charged, until you stop it.
Read from each app’s US App Store listing on August 25, 2026. The yearly column is arithmetic, price times 52, not a plan they sell. Apps run introductory and higher-priced variants of the same product, so the weekly column shows the span the listing exposes.
How to check what you are being charged, and cancel it
These steps work for any app, including ours.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the app to see its price and its renewal date.
- Choose to cancel the subscription.
On Android
- Open the Play Store.
- Tap your profile picture, top right.
- Tap Payments and subscriptions.
- Tap Subscriptions and select the app.
- Choose to cancel the subscription.
Deleting the app cancels nothing
This is the one that catches people, and the publishers say so themselves. Municorn’s billing policy states plainly that deleting their fax app does not cancel the subscription. BP Mobile, who publish FaxFree, go further: their terms say that removing the app from your device and deleting your account inside the app both leave the subscription running. The subscription belongs to the store account, so that is the only place it can be stopped.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal
Store subscriptions renew automatically unless they are cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and several of these publishers restate that deadline in their terms. On a weekly plan that leaves a six-day window each cycle, 52 times a year. Cancelling does not end access early: you keep the plan until the period you have already paid for runs out.
A refund afterwards is not the fallback
Refunds on a store purchase are Apple’s or Google’s to give, and the publishers’ own policies narrow them further. Municorn refunds first-time purchases only, states that renewals are non-refundable, and says a refund is not granted once a fax has been sent. FaxFree’s publisher offers no refund policy of their own at all, leaving it entirely to the stores. Cancelling in time is the mechanism that works.
10 free pages a month, in your browser, with nothing that renews.
Why weekly billing became the default
Two ordinary incentives that point the same way.
A week is the smallest number to show
Someone who needs to fax one form compares prices for a few seconds. A weekly figure is the lowest number an app can put on the paywall, and it wins that comparison against an honest monthly price even when the monthly price is better value. Store mechanics reward the low entry number too, since introductory pricing is priced per period rather than per document.
The fax user is usually a one-time user
Most people who install a fax app have exactly one document to send. Charging for time rather than for pages collects from that person for as long as the subscription runs, whether or not another fax is ever sent, and the mismatch between a one-off need and a recurring product is the entire cost story of this category.
What a fax should cost
Our catalog, for scale.
- 6 weeks of the dearest weekly plan in the table above costs more than a year of FaxTerra Starter. At $9.99 a week that is $59.94 against $49.99. At the cheapest weekly plan, $3.99, it takes 13 weeks to pass the same line.
- 10 years of Starter for one year of that plan. $49.99 a year, each year including your own fax number and 50 pages a month on top of the 10 free ones.
- Or 5,200 pages of pay-as-you-go faxing. At $9.99 for 100 pages, which is $0.10 a page, and pages that do not expire.
- Or nothing, for most people. 10 free pages every calendar month covers a form, a signed contract or a records request without a payment at all.
| App | Smallest pack | Cost per page |
|---|---|---|
| FaxTerra | 10 pages for $1.99 | $0.20, down to $0.10 at 100 pages |
| Fax with TurboFax (Piksoft) | 2 pages for $1.99 | $0.37 at its best rate |
| FAX for iPhone: Send & Receive | 30 pages for $14.99 | $0.50 at its best rate |
| FaxFlow | 10 pages for $14.99 | $1.00 at its best rate |
Apps selling credits rather than pages are left out of this table. A credit is not a page, and unless the vendor publishes the ratio a credit pack does not divide into a cost per page. Genius Fax does publish it, and their packs work out between $0.99 and $0.40 a page.
Common questions
How much does a fax app cost?
More than the number on the paywall, because the category sells weeks rather than faxes, and those weeks auto-renew by the vendors' own terms. The best-known apps run $3.99 to $9.99 a week, which is $207.48 to $519.48 across a year. Across the wider August 2026 survey, 20 of the 37 App Store fax apps whose purchases we could read sold at least one weekly plan, from $2.99 to $29.99 a week. Sending one document should cost a few dollars or nothing.
Why did my fax app charge me weekly?
Because the purchase was a weekly subscription, which is the default product in this category and renews until it is cancelled. It is easy to miss: the paywall shows a small number, the interval is in smaller type, and the renewal arrives 52 times a year rather than 12. The subscription lives with the App Store or Play, not with the app.
How do I cancel a fax app subscription on my iPhone?
Open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, select the app to see its price and renewal date, then choose to cancel. On Android the same thing lives in the Play Store under your profile picture, in Payments and subscriptions. You keep access until the end of the period already paid for, and the store needs the cancellation at least 24 hours before the renewal date for it to stop the next charge.
Does deleting the app cancel the subscription?
No, and two of the largest publishers in the category say so in their own terms. Municorn writes that deleting their fax app does not cancel the subscription; BP Mobile, who publish FaxFree, go further and state that removing the app and deleting your account inside the app both leave the subscription billing. Cancelling happens in the store account, never in the app.
What is the cheapest way to send one fax?
A free monthly allowance if the document fits inside it, and a page pack if it does not. FaxTerra gives every account 10 free pages a month, then sells 10 pages for $1.99 and 100 for $9.99, which is $0.10 a page. Buying a week of unlimited faxing to send one document is the expensive path, and it is the one most fax apps offer.
