FaxTerra

Our Story

FaxTerra started with two faxes I had to send in late 2025. Neither was complicated. Both were expensive, on services nobody had improved in years.

Two faxes

The first was to the IRS, about a business EIN document. I learned that faxing it was the fastest way to get an answer without waiting on hold. I went looking for a fax service, and found a category of products that were expensive, dated and barely maintained.

Around the same time, a family member needed their medical records sent to a new doctor. Fax is still how records move between providers. Same story: the options cost too much and were hard to use.

So I built the service I wanted.

What FaxTerra is

A complete fax service: send and receive from a browser, from the iPhone app or from the Android app, all on one account. You see every page exactly as the recipient will get it before you send, and you can watch the delivery happen. Healthcare plans carry a signed Business Associate Agreement, executed at signup, for practices handling protected health information.

The same service is free at low volume: 10 pages a month, on every account, with no card on file.

How we price it

Most people fax a few times a year. The industry bills them monthly anyway, which is how a single fax turns into three months of subscription before anyone remembers to cancel. eFax’s Personal plan is $18.99 a month before you send a page.

FaxTerra is not a subscription by default. Sending runs on credits: 10 free pages every month, then credit packs from $1.99, as much or as little as you fax, and credits do not expire. If you do not fax, you do not pay.

The one thing that takes a plan is the thing you would expect: holding a number to receive faxes at any time, from $4.99 a month. Cancel it from the Plans page in the app. No phone call, no retention flow. And if you only need a number for a while, like waiting on the IRS to fax back an EIN confirmation, a one-time number is $14.99 for 90 days, 50 pages included, no subscription.

What comes next

Fax is not unique. Small businesses run on a lot of software that was built twenty years ago and is still priced like it has no competition. We think much of it is worth rebuilding, and we plan to keep going.
