Fax Without a Subscription
Faxing isn’t Netflix — most people do it a few times a year. You shouldn’t pay monthly for something you use occasionally.
Most faxing is not a subscription behavior. If you send a handful of faxes a year — tax forms, insurance paperwork, legal documents — a monthly plan means paying for 11 months you don’t use. We built FaxTerra around that reality.
The subscription math most people never do
How much does each fax actually cost you with a subscription? Divide your annual bill by the faxes you actually send.
| Your usage | FaxTerra cost/year | eFax cost/yearsubscription | eFax cost/fax | You save |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 fax/year | Free | $227.88 | $227.88/fax | $228 |
| 3 faxes/year | Free | $227.88 | $75.96/fax | $228 |
| 5 faxes/year | Free | $227.88 | $45.58/fax | $228 |
| 12 faxes/year | Free | $227.88 | $18.99/fax | $228 |
| 24 faxes/year | $3.98 | $227.88 | $9.49/fax | $224 |
Pick the model that fits how you actually fax
We offer both — because different people have different needs. We just don’t think everyone should be forced into the same monthly plan.

Why do most fax services push subscriptions?
Because it’s more profitable for them. The largest fax company in the world — which owns eFax, MyFax, and several other brands — is a large, highly profitable public company that earns largely on subscribers who rarely fax but keep paying. That’s their business model. It doesn’t have to be yours.
Common Questions
Can I send a fax without a monthly subscription?
Yes. FaxTerra offers one-time credit packs — buy the pages you need, send your fax, and you're done. No recurring charges, no auto-renewal, no cancellation required. Your first 10 pages each month are free.
When does a fax subscription make financial sense?
A subscription becomes cheaper than pay-per-use only if you consistently send more than about 40 pages every single month. For most people — especially those who fax 1–5 times per year — pay-per-use costs a small fraction as much.
Why do most fax services only offer subscriptions?
Subscriptions are more profitable for the provider. A user who subscribes for one fax and forgets to cancel for three months pays $50+ for a single use. The largest fax company in the world (eFax's parent, Consensus Cloud Solutions) is a large, highly profitable public company whose fax business is built largely on subscribers who rarely fax but keep paying.
Can I get a fax number without a subscription?
Yes. A one-time fax number is $14.99 paid once and gives you your own number for 90 days, with 50 pages included. It receives faxes into your inbox the same way a plan's number does. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. It is the right choice when you need to catch the reply to a single filing.
What if I need to receive faxes or get replies?
For a one-off, the one-time number above covers it: $14.99 once for 90 days. For an ongoing need, the Starter plan is $4.99/month and includes a dedicated fax number you keep. Either way your faxes are sent from your number, so replies come back to your inbox, and anyone with your number can fax you. Both are still well under what eFax charges. If you only need to send and don't need replies, you never need either one.
How do I know my fax was delivered?
FaxTerra shows real-time delivery status and sends you an email confirmation the moment your fax is delivered. You can also check status from your phone at any time.

Excellent · TrustScore 4.5This is by far the quickest, easiest way to send a fax anywhere. No hassle, easy signup with just your Google account, decent amount of pages per month, and you don't have to deal with advertisements or watermarks added to your documents. Highly recommended!
I checked several different fax apps and this was by far the best I found. Highly recommend.
We only needed one service, a .pdf file faxed to a number, but it performed that service without issue. We knew that this was an often-busy fax number we were sending to, but it informed us that the attempt timed out, and after we chose 'retry', it went through without problem. Quick, easy, responsive, we had no issues with it.
