When the 90 days end
A reminder email goes out 15 days before the end, and your dashboard counts down the last 15 days.
To keep the number, start a plan before the end. The plan keeps the same number while it runs. If the plan ends before your 90 days do, the number stays until the 90 days end.
If you do not, the number is released when the 90 days are up and your account returns to the free tier with its free monthly pages.
Faxes you already received stay in your inbox for the usual retention period (see documents and privacy).
A temporary number for an EIN application
When you apply for an EIN by fax, put the number in the "Applicant's fax number" box on Form SS-4 so the IRS can fax the EIN back to it (SS-4 instructions).
90 days is room to wait 21 days for the reply, fax the form again if it never comes and wait again, then make the follow-up call to the IRS.
