PenFed Credit Union Fax Numbers

PenFed is one of the few large institutions that still publishes a general fax number for member forms, and it publishes two. Departmental lines cover mortgage, hardship and insurance.

Which PenFed fax line you need

PenFed publishes two general member-services fax numbers, (800) 557-7328 and (800) 278-2212, and treats them as interchangeable for member forms. Its forms page names both for the same purpose, so either works for the account paperwork listed there: power of attorney, trust, estate, beneficiary, IRA and authorized-user forms.

Four lines are narrower.

Mortgage and home equity. Inquiries about a mortgage or HELOC go to (703) 633-7091.

Trouble paying. Hardship applications go to Mortgage Loss Mitigation at (703) 234-1009, which PenFed pairs with a mailing address in Newark, Delaware.

A minor or joint-owner account. Those documents go to (541) 345-0512 in Springfield, Oregon, or to either general number.

Proof of insurance on a car loan. The declarations page goes to (800) 713-0261. This is an insurance-tracking line operated for PenFed by a vendor rather than a PenFed office, which is why it is a separate number from everything else here.

PenFed also lists international fax numbers for members in Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany, the UK and Japan on its contact page. Those are outside the scope of this guide.

What members send to these lines

PenFed routes most member paperwork through its forms page, and the forms are the documents that go by fax:

  • Power of attorney, trust and estate forms, beneficiary designations
  • IRA forms and the credit card authorized user form
  • Minor and joint-owner account documents
  • Auto loan insurance declaration pages naming PenFed as lienholder
  • Statement of intent to sell a vehicle and title documents
  • Mortgage or HELOC inquiries, and loss mitigation packages

Most forms are one to four pages. A hardship package is the long one.

These lines take documents in, not out

Every number here is an intake queue. PenFed processes the form and follows up by secure message, by phone, or by mail. Nothing comes back by fax, and PenFed does not acknowledge arrival.

The FaxTerra delivery confirmation is your record: destination number, page count, and the moment the receiving machine accepted the pages. For an insurance declarations page, where the alternative is a force-placed insurance charge appearing on the loan, that timestamp is worth saving.

Verify the number before you send

A beneficiary or POA form pairs your identity with someone else. An insurance page carries your policy details:

  • Use the number PenFed prints on the page for your task. The two general numbers cover member forms; the mortgage, hardship and insurance lines do not overlap with them.
  • Remember that the insurance line is run by a vendor on PenFed behalf. Send insurance documents there and account forms to PenFed itself.
  • Never fax wire instructions or online banking credentials. PenFed asks for neither by fax, and payment-redirection requests aimed at military members are a persistent fraud pattern.
  • If a PenFed representative gives you a number, use theirs and note who gave it to you.

How to fax PenFed without a fax machine

Create a free FaxTerra account with an email address. Upload the completed form as a PDF or as photos taken with your phone, enter the PenFed fax number for the task, and send.

A short form sends free within the 10 free pages every account gets each month. Longer packets are covered by a one-time credit pack from about 10¢ a page, and the Starter subscription covers a monthly page allowance if you send often. See how to send a fax for accepted file types and page limits, faxing financial documents for the wider picture, and the Navy Federal guide for the other large military credit union, which routes every document to a department line instead.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the PenFed fax number?

PenFed publishes two general member-services numbers, (800) 557-7328 and (800) 278-2212, and names both on its forms submission page. Mortgage, hardship, minor-account and insurance documents have their own lines.

Where do I fax a PenFed form?

To either general number. The PenFed forms page names (800) 278-2212 and (800) 557-7328 together as the fax route for the account forms it lists, including POA, trust, beneficiary and IRA forms.

Where do I send proof of insurance for a PenFed auto loan?

To (800) 713-0261, the insurance-tracking line PenFed publishes. It is operated on PenFed behalf by Allied Solutions, so send insurance documents there rather than to a member-services number.

Where do I fax a PenFed hardship application?

To Mortgage Loss Mitigation at (703) 234-1009. PenFed also gives a mailing address in Newark, Delaware for the same package.

Is FaxTerra affiliated with PenFed Credit Union?

No. FaxTerra is an independent online fax service. We deliver your document to the number you enter and confirm when it arrives. We cannot access your accounts or check the status of a request.
