The only fax number American Honda Finance prints is on the Odometer Disclosure Statement and Title Release form, and it applies to one situation: completing a lease payoff or buyout online and returning the signed odometer and title paperwork. The form names (937) 481-5307 and asks that the cover page be marked Attn: Captive Client.

The fax terminates at Vitu, a title-processing vendor handling titles on Honda’s behalf, and not at a Honda customer service desk. That is worth knowing before you fax anything unrelated to it, because a general question sent there reaches a title processor with no access to your account.

Honda Financial Services publishes no general customer-service fax. Payments, payoff quotes, insurance documents, and account questions run through the Honda Financial Services account site and phone support. Note also that hondafinancialservices.com now redirects to honda.americanhondafinance.com, so an older bookmark still lands in the right place.

The paperwork attached to a lease buyout:

• The signed Odometer Disclosure Statement, completed exactly as the form instructs, with no corrections or white-out (a DMV rejects an altered odometer statement)
• Title release information, so the title can be issued to the right party
• Any power of attorney or dealer paperwork the form calls for when a dealer is buying out the lease
