Returning Your Northern Mariana Islands Ballot From Overseas
Northern Mariana Islands does not accept a voted ballot by fax.
Under 1 CMC section 6212(a), as published by the CNMI Commonwealth Election Commission, a voted absentee ballot and its affidavit must be mailed by standard U.S. First Class Mail or sent by commercial courier and are not counted unless mailed, so a faxed ballot is not accepted; fax is allowed only for the absentee ballot application. Under 1 CMC sections 6211(b) and 6212(a), the CNMI Election Commission sends an absentee voter an official ballot, ballot envelope, affidavit, and reply envelope at the address the application names; the law names no fax or email delivery of the blank ballot.
Deadlines
Under 1 CMC section 6213(a), a CNMI absentee ballot counts only if the Commission receives it no later than election day; for a runoff, a ballot postmarked by runoff day counts if received within fourteen days after it.
