Brighthouse Financial Fax Number
Brighthouse publishes one fax number for service requests on annuity and life policies, and tells you exactly what to write on the cover page.
10 pages free every month. No credit card.
One number, and Brighthouse says what to put on it
Brighthouse’s support FAQ answers the question directly: paperwork about a contract or policy can be submitted by fax to (877) 246-8424, and the fax should carry the contract or policy owner’s name and phone number so it can be matched.
That is the only fax number Brighthouse publishes. The FAQ lists separate mailing addresses for non-variable products, variable products, new business and claims, but gives one fax for service requests. There is no separate claims fax, and this page does not invent one.
If you are here because of a MetLife policy, that is the expected path. Brighthouse was spun off from MetLife in 2017 and services the former MetLife retail annuity and individual life business, along with New England Life policies. The MetLife guide covers the claims that stayed with MetLife, which are the ones held through an employer.
What people fax to Brighthouse
The service line takes contract-level paperwork:
- Annuity service forms: withdrawal requests, beneficiary changes, address changes, required minimum distribution elections
- Life policy service forms
- Death claim forms and supporting documents, including a certified death certificate
- Ownership and payout option changes
A death claim package with a certificate and identification commonly runs six to twelve pages, past the free monthly allowance. One credit pack covers it.
The line takes documents in, it does not answer
Brighthouse’s service fax is an intake line. Pages arrive, a service representative works the request, and Brighthouse responds by mail or by phone using the details you supply. Nothing comes back by fax and there is no fax acknowledgment.
That is exactly why Brighthouse asks for the owner’s name and phone number on the fax: those are how they reach you. Keep the delivery receipt as your own record. FaxTerra confirms the moment the receiving machine accepted your pages and logs the time and page count.
Verify the number before you send
- Write the contract or policy owner’s name and phone number on the cover page, as Brighthouse asks. Without them, the pages cannot be matched to a contract.
- Check the servicing company on your latest statement. A policy that says MetLife on an old document may say Brighthouse now, and the reverse is true for employer-held coverage.
- Read your form’s return instructions. Where a Brighthouse form names its own destination, that one wins.
- Never fax wire instructions, a full bank routing and account pair, or login credentials. A sent fax cannot be recalled.
How to fax Brighthouse without a fax machine
Create a free FaxTerra account with an email address, upload the signed form and supporting documents as a PDF or as photos from your phone, enter the Brighthouse number, and send. A delivery confirmation arrives by email.
A short form sends free within your monthly free pages, and a claim package is covered by a one-time credit pack from about 10¢ a page. See how to send a fax for accepted files and page limits, faxing financial documents for the wider process, and the MetLife guide if your coverage is through an employer instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Brighthouse Financial fax number?
Brighthouse publishes (877) 246-8424 in its support FAQ for service requests on a contract or policy. Include the contract or policy owner’s name and phone number on the fax so it can be matched.
Is there a separate fax for claims?
No. Brighthouse publishes one fax number for requests, and separate mailing addresses by product and for claims. A number presented elsewhere as a Brighthouse claims fax is not coming from Brighthouse.
My policy says MetLife. Do I fax MetLife or Brighthouse?
It depends on how you bought it. Brighthouse services the former MetLife retail annuity and individual life business after the 2017 spin-off. Coverage held through an employer generally stayed with MetLife. Your latest statement names the servicing company.
How will Brighthouse respond?
By mail or by phone, using the owner name and phone number on the fax. Nothing comes back by fax, so keep the delivery receipt as the record that your pages arrived.
Is FaxTerra affiliated with Brighthouse Financial?
No. FaxTerra is an independent online fax service. We deliver your document to the number you enter and confirm when it arrives. We cannot see your policy or process a request.
