Credit Acceptance Fax Numbers
Credit Acceptance publishes two fax lines, both in its customer FAQ: one for title work, one for estate documentation. Send yours free from a phone or computer.
10 pages free every month. No credit card.
Which Credit Acceptance line you need
Both numbers are published in the vehicle-title section of the Credit Acceptance customer FAQ.
(866) 436-4890 is the Title Department. Send the request for an original title when you have moved to another state and the new DMV needs it, a title name change with the document that proves it, or a written request to add or remove a party on the title. Credit Acceptance asks that a removal request be notarized.
(866) 808-6559 is Operations Support, which handles estate documentation: proof of death and proof that you are the authorized representative, when the estate intends to keep the vehicle or a representative needs to be added to the title.
Two things Credit Acceptance does not take by fax. Payoff quotes come through the account portal or by phone, with no payoff fax published. Proof of insurance goes through the insurance-verification website named on your Credit Acceptance letter rather than to either line above, which matters if you are an insurance agent trying to send a declarations page.
What customers send to these lines
The Title Department line, in practice:
- A DMV request on department letterhead when you have moved states and the new DMV wants the original title
- A name change with the supporting proof: a driver license, marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order, plus the DMV address you want the title sent to
- A written request to add a party to the title, or a notarized request to remove one
The Operations Support line takes the estate set: a death certificate, letters of administration or an equivalent appointment, and a written statement of what the estate intends to do with the vehicle. Put the account number on every page in both cases.
These lines receive documents only
Neither number answers by fax. Credit Acceptance works the request and mails the title, the release, or its response to the address on file, or calls you.
What you keep is the delivery receipt FaxTerra emails you, which names the destination and the time the pages were accepted. On a title request tied to a registration deadline at a new DMV, that receipt is the dated proof that you submitted when you say you did.
Verify the number before you send
Estate and title documents carry death certificates, identification, and account numbers:
- Read the number from the vehicle-title section of the Credit Acceptance customer FAQ, or from the letter you are answering.
- Match the line to the document. A death certificate sent to the Title Department is a delay; the title work follows the estate review.
- Do not fax insurance documents to either line. Use the insurance-verification site named in your Credit Acceptance correspondence.
- Ignore numbers from third-party auto-loan directories.
How to fax Credit Acceptance without a fax machine
Create a free FaxTerra account with an email address, upload the documents as a PDF or as photos of each page, enter the number for the right department, and send. The delivery receipt arrives by email.
A short title request sends free within your monthly free pages. An estate package with a death certificate and court appointment is covered by a one-time credit pack from about 10¢ a page. Have the new DMV put the request on its letterhead, then fax it to the Title Department at (866) 436-4890 with your account number, or mail it to Attn: Title Department, 25505 West 12 Mile Rd, Southfield, MI 48034.
