Client documents that arrive by fax
Every received fax lands in the shared inbox as a PDF, and each person on the account gets an email when one arrives. A fax you send goes out from the firm's number, so a client who faxes back reaches the shared inbox. An owner or admin can forward every fax to one shared mailbox as well. Received faxes are kept 90 days on Starter and 1 year on Business and Pro by default. The owner can choose a window of up to 2 years, or never delete on a paid plan.
Faxing forms to the IRS
Forms such as Form 2848 and Form 8821 have IRS fax lines, and our guides list each line with its source. The IRS fax number directory lists the lines for other forms. Upload the signed form as a PDF or a phone photo, enter the number, and keep the delivery email with the client's file.

Is there a per-user fee for the staff?
No. Every plan takes as many people as you like at no extra cost, so a three-person office pays $9.99 a month on Business, the same as one person.
Can we keep the fax number the firm already uses?
Usually, if your current provider releases it. Moving a US or Canadian local number is free on any paid plan, and a free check first shows whether it looks portable. The firm's current service keeps working until the transfer completes. See porting a fax number.
Can staff send a fax by email?
Yes, on a paid plan. Each person turns it on for themselves in Settings, then emails the document from their sign-in address to the fax number followed by @fax.faxterra.com. Email from any other address is not sent. It sends as soon as the email arrives, with no preview, so send from the web or the app when you want to see the pages first.
Can we fax from our phones?
Yes. The same account, inbox and sent history are on the web and in the FaxTerra app for iPhone and Android, and the app scans a paper document with the camera.
