Which M&T fax line you need

M&T's help-center contact pages list no fax number. Everything above comes from the mortgage servicing pages, where M&T publishes a line per queue.

Routine servicing. Written requests and correspondence go to (866) 409-4642. A payoff request is separate: (866) 409-2653.

Escrow documents. Property tax bills go to (817) 826-0675. Hazard and flood proof of insurance goes to Insurance Services at (937) 525-4125 in Springfield, Ohio.

Trouble paying. The hardship assistance application goes to (855) 678-0866.

A death. Documents on the death of a mortgage borrower go to Estate Services at (716) 274-1087, which also takes them by email and by mail in Buffalo.

Military orders. SCRA requests and interest-rate benefit paperwork go to (888) 378-8444.

Business escrow. Commercial and treasury escrow account forms, including W-9 and W-8 certifications, go to the Escrow Services Department at (888) 964-8797.

All of these are mortgage, estate, and business lines. M&T publishes no auto-loan insurance fax and no subpoena fax, so those route by mail or by phone.

What customers send to these lines

M&T splits its queues finely, which means each line expects a narrow set of documents:

• Payoff request forms and general servicing letters
• Property tax bills and hazard or flood insurance declaration pages for an escrowed loan
• A hardship assistance application with income documents and a hardship statement
• A certified death certificate with letters testamentary or letters of administration
• Military orders with an SCRA interest-rate benefit request
• Commercial escrow allocation forms with tax certifications

A tax bill or declarations page is one or two pages. A hardship application with a full document set runs much longer.

These lines take documents in, not out

Every number is intake only. M&T processes the document and responds by mail, by phone, or by email to the address on the account. Nothing comes back by fax and there is no acknowledgement from M&T when your pages land.

Verify the number before you send

Estate documents and hardship files both carry information you cannot take back:

• Match the number to the queue, not to the bank. M&T runs payoffs, tax bills, insurance, hardship and estates as separate teams, and a document in the wrong queue waits rather than moving.
• Use the number printed on the M&T page for your task or on the letter you received.
• Never fax wire instructions or full online banking credentials. M&T requests neither by fax, and an emailed change to payoff wiring details is the most common form of real estate wire fraud.
• For anything with no published M&T fax, such as an auto loan insurance document, use the mailing address or phone route instead of guessing.
