Two lines, one digit apart

Shellpoint publishes (866) 467-1137 in its site footer for general correspondence, and (866) 467-1187 on its Mortgage Assistance Application for loss mitigation.

Read those two numbers twice. They are identical except for one digit in the last four, which is the single most likely mistake on this page. A hardship package that lands on the general line is not lost, but it starts in the wrong queue, and the general line is the wrong place for a document with a review clock attached to it.

Shellpoint publishes nothing else. There is no separate hazard-insurance fax, no loss-draft fax, and no payoff fax: those pages direct you to your online account instead. If you have insurance or claim documents and no letter naming a destination, the general line is the published route.

What borrowers send to Shellpoint

The loss-mitigation line takes the assistance file:

• The Mortgage Assistance Application, the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Form 710 that most servicers use
• Hardship documentation: pay stubs, bank statements, tax returns, a hardship letter, and a profit and loss statement for self-employment
• The loss-mitigation opt-out form, when you are declining review

The general line takes everything else Shellpoint publishes as a form: third-party authorizations, the HOA borrower authorization, the non-borrower contribution form, taxpayer consent (Form 4506-C), notices of error, and requests for information. Those forms are on the Shellpoint forms page, and none of them prints its own fax number, which is why they go to the general line.

What happens after the fax arrives

Both numbers are intake only. Shellpoint answers by mail or through your online account, and no confirmation comes back by fax.
