U.S. Bank Fax Numbers by Department
U.S. Bank publishes its fax numbers one knowledge-base article at a time, each tied to a single task. Here are the five, what each accepts, and how to send free from your phone.
10 pages free every month. No credit card.
Which U.S. Bank fax line you need
U.S. Bank does not list a general fax number on a contact page. Each of these comes from the knowledge-base article for one task.
Card paperwork. Correspondence and dispute documentation for a U.S. Bank credit card go to (866) 568-7729.
Proof of insurance on a financed vehicle. The declarations page from your insurer goes to (866) 804-8764. This is the line to use when the bank has written asking you to confirm coverage.
Escrow tax documents. Property tax bills and homestead exemption paperwork go to the Home Mortgage tax department at (877) 903-6972.
A W-9. After a backup-withholding notice, the completed form goes to (314) 418-3530.
A verification of deposit. Medical and public assistance agencies send their requests to (866) 338-4251. This is an agency line: if you have been asked for a verification of deposit, hand the request to whoever asked for it.
Some things route elsewhere. U.S. Bank publishes no fax for estate or power of attorney documents; its wealth-management POA affidavit names none, and those go through a branch or by phone. Mortgage payoff quotes are the reverse of what people expect: U.S. Bank will fax a quote out to you on request, but publishes no number to fax a request in.
What customers send to these lines
Each of these lines expects one document, and usually a short one:
- An insurance declarations page naming U.S. Bank as lienholder on a vehicle
- A property tax bill or a homestead exemption approval for an escrowed mortgage
- A completed Form W-9 after a withholding notice
- Dispute documentation such as receipts, a merchant response, or a written explanation for a card charge
- An agency verification-of-deposit request with the customer authorization attached
One to four pages covers nearly all of it, which is inside the free monthly pages on any account.
These lines take documents in, not out
Each number is an intake queue. U.S. Bank processes the document and follows up in online banking, by phone, or by mail. Nothing comes back by fax and no receipt is issued on arrival.
Your record is the FaxTerra delivery confirmation: destination number, page count, timestamp. For a tax bill headed into escrow, where a late payment produces a penalty someone has to argue about later, having the send timestamp on file is worth the ten seconds it takes to save the email.
Verify the number before you send
A W-9 carries your Social Security number or EIN. An insurance page carries your policy and vehicle details:
- Use the number in the U.S. Bank knowledge-base article for your exact task, or on the letter you received. Each of the five is task-specific.
- Do not send estate or power of attorney documents to any of these lines. U.S. Bank publishes no fax for either, and there is no queue expecting them.
- Never fax wire instructions or your online banking credentials. U.S. Bank does not ask for them by fax, and a payment-redirection request that arrived by email is a fraud pattern, not an errand.
- If a representative gives you a number over the phone, use theirs and note who gave it to you.
How to fax U.S. Bank without a fax machine
Create a free FaxTerra account with an email address. Upload the document as a PDF or as photos taken with your phone, enter the task fax number, and send. The delivery confirmation arrives by email.
One to four pages sends free within the 10 free pages every account gets each month. Longer submissions are covered by a one-time credit pack from about 10¢ a page, and the Starter subscription covers a monthly page allowance if you send regularly. See how to send a fax for accepted file types and page limits, faxing financial documents for the wider picture, and the Truist guide for a bank whose published lines are almost all mortgage servicing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the U.S. Bank fax number?
U.S. Bank publishes a number per task rather than a general one: (866) 568-7729 for credit card service, (866) 804-8764 for auto insurance documents, (877) 903-6972 for the mortgage tax department, and (314) 418-3530 for returning a W-9.
Where do I fax proof of insurance to U.S. Bank?
To (866) 804-8764, the auto loan and lease insurance line. Send the declarations page that shows U.S. Bank as lienholder, and include your loan account number on the cover sheet.
Can I fax estate documents to U.S. Bank?
No fax number is published for them. The estate guides and the power of attorney affidavit route those through a branch or by phone. Do not send a death certificate to one of the task lines above.
How do I request a mortgage payoff quote from U.S. Bank?
Through online banking or by phone. U.S. Bank will fax the quote out to you if you ask, but publishes no number for faxing a payoff request in.
Is FaxTerra affiliated with U.S. Bank?
No. FaxTerra is an independent online fax service. We deliver your document to the number you enter and confirm when it arrives. We cannot access your accounts or check the status of a request.
