Changelog
What changed in FaxTerra and when, since April 2026. Each entry describes the product on its date, and a later entry supersedes an earlier one. Where an entry records where it landed, a chip says so: the web app, the iPhone app, or the Android app.

Credits open a received fax over the allowance
A received fax larger than your remaining monthly pages can now be opened with credits, charged only for the pages over the allowance. Upgrading remains an option for repeat need.
- New
A public changelog: product changes, dated, since April 2026
FaxTerra now publishes a changelog at faxterra.com/changelog: the product changes shipped since April 2026, each with its date.
- New
Confirmation for a resumed fax, and where your signed BAA lives
A fax that broke partway and was finished automatically now has a delivery confirmation for the whole document. HIPAA accounts find their executed BAA from Settings and Plans & Billing.
- New
Your signed BAA, emailed at signing
When you execute your Business Associate Agreement, the signed PDF is emailed to you right away. It stays on your HIPAA compliance page too.
- NewiPhoneAndroid
Latest FaxTerra app is now in the App Store and Google Play
The new app version brings the newest sending, billing and inbox improvements to everyone from the first launch.
- New
Notify every team member when a fax arrives
On a team account, everyone is now told when a fax arrives, by email and in the app, each at their own notification address. Turn it off for yourself in Settings, on the Profile card.
- New
Smart App Banner on the signed-in dashboard, sent, inbox and status pages for iPhone Safari
On an iPhone in Safari, the dashboard, sent list, inbox and fax status pages now show Apple's banner for the FaxTerra app, and the dashboard's own app card steps aside there.
- New
The inbox shows a real sender's fax that didn't come through
If a fax machine connects to your number and the fax doesn't complete, your inbox now shows the attempt, with the caller's number and what to do next.
- New
Composer names the IRS EIN reply line when typed as a destination
If you fax to the number the IRS sent your EIN notice from, the composer now tells you that line does not receive faxes and opens the three IRS EIN fax lines so you can pick the right one.
- New
Cancel an international number verification
You can now cancel a verification for an international number from the verification page, until you submit it and again if the regulator asks for a change. We delete the documents you uploaded after 30 days, your plan stays as it is, and you can start again whenever you like.
- New
County election fax lines recognized in the composer
Typing a county election office fax number in the composer now recognizes it and shows the office it belongs to, so an overseas or military voter can confirm the line before the ballot goes.

Credit packs are for sending: rail copy and inbox banner breakdown
The Plans page pack rail and the inbox usage banner now say credit packs cover sending, instead of listing packs as if they counted toward received pages.
- New
Free international sending, pages abroad count as two
Your free monthly pages now send to every supported country. A page outside the US and Canada counts as two, in every plan and in credits, so the free pages cover 5 international pages a month.
- New
One biller of record: store subscribers can change plans in the app and move billing to a card
Every billing screen now says who bills your account (Apple, Google Play, or your card on FaxTerra) and where to manage it, with a new help page for each. If you subscribed in the app you can change plans from Billing in the app, and you can move your plan to a card on the website: the card is verified now and first charged on the date your store plan ends, and your fax number stays. HIPAA compliance is $4.99 a month everywhere, and can be added from the iPhone app.
- New
HIPAA compliance can be added inside the iOS and Android app
If your plan is billed through the App Store or Google Play, you can now sign the Business Associate Agreement and add HIPAA compliance from the app's Billing screen. It renews with your store subscription and is managed there.
- New
The destination card names what you picked, and says where the name came from
A fax number you have saved now shows your own name for it when you pick it, and the directory stays one tap away instead of needing the field cleared.
- New
The fax-destination directory is rows, not a file: claims withdraw themselves
A recognised fax number now shows an About this line link when we have a page for it.
- New
Address book: reuse and save the destinations you fax
"Send to this number again" now opens the composer with the number already in it, the number picker lists the destinations you have faxed with what happened last time, and a new Address book page lets you save, name and remove them.
- New
UK and New Zealand number verification: a request from the reviewer reopens the form
If the regulator reviewing your UK or New Zealand number asks for a different document, we now email you their request and your verification page reopens with it, so you can upload the replacement straight away. Everything they already accepted is kept, and sending keeps working from a shared FaxTerra number while you wait.
- New
Fax cover sheet: fill it in, watch it render, print it or send it
A free fax cover sheet at faxterra.com/fax-cover-sheet: fill in the fields and the sheet renders beside them as you type, then download the PDF or take the blank template. A pre-filled version for IRS Form SS-4 puts the right IRS line on the sheet and says where the EIN comes back. The cover page now carries a subject (Re:) line.
- New
One-time number purchases appear in purchase history, with a working receipt
Bought a one-time fax number? It now appears in your purchase history on the Plans page and in the mobile app, with a Receipt link that opens your invoice, including for the earliest purchases.
- New
If your renewal payment needs a confirmation step from your bank, we now email you about it with a link to finish it, instead of leaving it to your card issuer's own notice.
- New
When you pick a file the composer can't fax, it now tells you why, which formats it accepts, and what to do about it, instead of appearing to ignore you.
- New
Every plan, including Free, now lets you add as many people as you like at no extra cost, and HIPAA compliance with a signed BAA is a $5-a-month add-on on any paid plan. The separate Healthcare plans are retired.
- New
Every plan, including Free, now lets you add as many people as you like to your account, with no per-user fees. Invite colleagues from Settings; everyone shares the same fax number, inbox, sent history and pages.
- New
HIPAA compliance is now an add-on you can put on any paid plan for $5 a month: a signed BAA, per-document encryption, a six-year audit log, and PHI-free notifications, on Starter, Business, or Pro. Tick it on a plan card or add it from the HIPAA page in your account.
- New
While your fax is sending you can now watch it go: the status page shows your actual pages, marks the one on the line, and gives an estimate of how much longer it will take. When a fax stops partway it shows exactly which pages reached the recipient.
- New
A resend that hits a temporary problem at the fax carrier now retries itself automatically instead of failing with an error.
- New
If a long fax stops partway through, FaxTerra now finishes it for you. The pages that did not arrive are sent as a second transmission, with a cover sheet telling your recipient it completes the earlier fax, and you are charged the same total as an uninterrupted send. The status page and your email say which pages arrived first and which arrived second. Shorter faxes are re-sent whole, and now tell you which pages your recipient already has. We only pause to ask when the way the call ended suggests the number may not be a working fax line.
- New
Signing back in is one glance now. FaxTerra remembers which way you signed in last on this browser and marks it, so you pick the one that reaches your account. It remembers the method only, never your email address, and it stays on your device.
- New
There is no limit on how many pages you can fax. A document longer than 100 pages now goes out as several faxes, delivered in order and billed exactly the same as one, and the send form tells you how many before you press send.
- New
When a document cannot be turned into fax pages, the fax now stops with a clear explanation instead of being sent in a form we could not check. You are not charged, and your copy of the document stays available to download.
- New
On the iPhone and Android apps, a fax number that is incomplete, or in a country we do not fax to yet, is now caught before you send, with a message that says which it is, instead of a generic error after the fact.
- New
Receipt links for credit packs bought before July 2026 now open your receipt from the Plans page.
- New
Viewing a sent fax on the web or in the app now shows the exact pages the recipient's machine received, labeled "Pages as transmitted". Downloads still give you your original document.
- New
After a fax arrives on your number and you tell us it went well, the review button now takes you to Trustpilot.
- New
Scanned PDFs now display correctly in your sent history instead of showing blank pages.
- New
If you have already sent us your documents for a UK or New Zealand number, the number picker now shows your verification status instead of asking you to start again.
- New
The preview is now exactly what we send. Scans and phone photos are cleaned up for fax before they go out, so a shadowed page arrives readable instead of black, and image-heavy faxes finish in about half the time. A large file is never split into several faxes any more: only a document over 350 pages is, and the send form tells you before you commit.
- New
While your UK or New Zealand number is being verified, the app and help pages now say that faxes you send go out from a shared FaxTerra number until yours is live.
- New
You can now delete a received fax. Open it from your Inbox and choose Delete: it leaves your Inbox and the document is permanently removed from FaxTerra. Works on the website and in the app.
- New
You can now open any page of your fax full screen before you send it. The whole document is there in send order with the cover first. Scroll through it, zoom in to check small print, and flip a page that came in upside down. Closing it leaves your document exactly as it was. The page control is now a flip rather than a rotate, because a fax always prints on an upright page: turning one a quarter of the way made no difference to what came out the other end, and now what you see is what the recipient gets.
- New
New accounts now get a short note from Greg a few hours after signing up, with the story behind FaxTerra and an open invitation to reply with what you want changed. You can turn it off, like any other FaxTerra email, at /settings/notifications.
- New
Receipt links on the Plans page and in the app now open your invoice no matter how old the purchase is.
- New
An account watching more than one SS-4 fax at once now gets one check-in email naming every pending fax, instead of two indistinguishable copies.
- New
The IRS publishes three fax numbers for Form SS-4, and which one is yours depends on where the business is, not your nationality. Every page that lists them now says so, and the send page shows the rule with the three lines one tap away.
- New
Uploads now recover on their own from a dropped or stalled connection instead of asking you to start over.

- New
Faxing Form SS-4 to the IRS to get an EIN? The composer now reminds you to put your FaxTerra number in the form's "Applicant's fax number" box (that is where the IRS faxes your EIN), and can check in on the reply: if nothing has arrived from the IRS after three weeks, we email you that it is time to call instead, with the phone script and what the agent will ask. One tap, and we ask you for nothing. Faxes from known IRS lines are now labeled "Likely from the IRS" in your inbox. We do not fill in your form, choose anything for you, or contact the IRS on your behalf.
- New
You can now clear a whole document at once. Once a fax reaches five pages, "Clear all" appears above the page thumbnails, one tap, one confirmation, and the pages are gone. Your cover page and the number you entered stay put.
- New
You can now get a fax number in the United Kingdom or New Zealand. Choose the country on the number page and we will take you through the identity check those countries require. Your number is assigned as soon as the check is approved, usually about 3 business days, and sending works the whole time. If a document is not accepted we email you what to fix.
- New
Check whether your fax number can move to FaxTerra, before you sign up
You can now find out whether your fax number can move to FaxTerra straight from the porting guide, without an account, and which providers release numbers routinely.
- New
If your fax number lapsed and you subscribe again, the number picker now offers to search for your previous number. It is not held for you, so it may already be taken, but if it is still available you can pick it again.
- New
One-time number: a reminder 15 days before it closes, and a countdown on the dashboard
One-time fax number buyers now get an email 15 days before their number's 90-day window closes, and the dashboard shows the days remaining, so the end is never a surprise. Starting a plan before it closes keeps the same number.
- New
One-time fax number: your own number for 90 days, paid once
You can now get a fax number without subscribing. A one-time number is $14.99 paid once, gives you your own number for 90 days with 50 pages included, and receives faxes into your inbox exactly like a plan's number does. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. It is built for a single filing that gets answered by fax, like an EIN application, where the reply can take weeks to come back. If you decide you want the number for longer, starting a subscription keeps the number you already have.
- New
Clearer status while we retry a failed fax automatically: the status page keeps the retry banner up during each attempt, and your Sent list now shows 'Retrying automatically' instead of an unlabeled row.
- New
Bringing your fax number to FaxTerra now goes straight to your current carrier the moment you submit, no waiting on a review. If every line on your plan is in use, porting offers to add a line right in the wizard.
- New
Every page of your document now appears as its own preview, in black and white, shown as it will be received, so you can check, reorder, rotate, or remove any single page before you send.
- New
You can now bring an existing US or Canada fax number to FaxTerra instead of taking a new one. Transferring a number in is free on every paid plan, you can check whether your number will move before you pay anything, and your current fax service keeps working until the transfer completes. A number you brought in stays yours: moving it back out later is free.
- New
Your fax numbers have one home
Your fax numbers now have a home. Everything about them, what you have, adding one, bringing one in, and what another provider needs if you ever move one out, is on one page at faxterra.com/numbers, linked from your number anywhere you see it.
- New
FaxTerra is now on Google Play. Send and receive faxes from your Android phone, with the same account, credits, and history as the web.
- New
If a renewal payment fails, there is now one place that says why and fixes it. The email and the notice on your dashboard both open a page that states the reason the charge was declined and leads with the option that will actually work: charge the same card again once you have topped it up, add a different card if the bank has declined it for good, or confirm with your bank if it wants an extra step. Your fax number stays active the whole time, and the page tells you the date we will retry automatically if you would rather do nothing.
- New
Rotating a photo or scan in the composer now rotates the faxed page too.
- New
The "Send a Fax" link in the site footer now takes you to signup instead of the login page when you are not signed in.
- New
Changing your plan now shows exactly what it costs before anything happens. The amount charged today (or added to your next invoice), the credit for the part of your old plan you did not use, and your new price from the next billing date. Changes of $4 or more are charged when you confirm, so your recurring price is never inflated by a leftover part-period amount, and you get an email confirming every change. If your card is declined, nothing changes at all.
- New
FaxTerra is now on Google Play. Send and receive faxes from your Android phone with the same account, pages, and history as the web and iPhone app.
- New
If you start a subscription checkout but don't finish it, the number picker now tells you clearly that no payment was taken and lets you start again, instead of saying your payment was received.
- New
The mobile app now correctly recognizes international fax numbers however you enter them, and offers the right payment option up front.
- New
You can now have more than one fax number on the same account. Every paid plan includes one; extras are $3.99 a month each (or $39.90 a year on annual billing), added from Settings with the exact cost shown before you agree. Pick which number your faxes send from, and remove a number any time.
- New
Every purchase now emails you a receipt showing what you paid and when, with a link to view or download the invoice as a PDF. The link keeps working months later. Subscription renewals stay quiet by design; those invoices are in the billing portal under Manage billing.
- New
Need a person? The help chat can now hand you to us without losing your place. Choose "Get help from a human" and the chat's message box turns into a short form right where you are, carrying the conversation with it, so you don't have to repeat yourself. Cancel puts the message box back. We usually reply within a few hours, and always by the next business day. You don't need an account to use it.
- New
New App Store listing: "FaxTerra: Send & Receive Fax", refreshed screenshots showing the redesigned composer, and the app is now available in every country's App Store.
- New
Your new fax number is now confirmed working before you use it. Right after it's assigned you'll see "Setting up" for a moment, usually under a minute, and you'll get an email as soon as it's verified and live. You can upload and arrange your document the whole time; only sending waits, because the return number printed on your fax is the one being confirmed. If it's taking longer than expected we'll offer you a different number right away, free, and it won't use up your once-every-30-days change. And if a number doesn't pass, we now replace it for you and tell you once, when the new one is live, there's nothing for you to do.
- New
Faxing a document over 350 pages now just works. It's sent automatically as multiple faxes, delivered in order, each part with a "Part N of M" cover sheet. The send form tells you how many parts before you send. Billing is unchanged: you pay the same total pages.
- New
Reorder the pages of your fax right in the app, press and hold a page in the strip, drag it where you want it, and let go.
- New
The help assistant now knows when your fax number has failed our delivery checks, and will give you the same guidance as the replacement email.
- New
You can now share a fax account with your team: invite people from Settings, everyone shares the number, inbox and page allowance, and you can move a fax number between accounts you're on. See the new Teams help page.
- New
If you release your fax number, Settings now shows you the way to pick a new one right away.
- New
If your balance is split between plan pages and credits, the send screen now tells you up front when a fax needs more pages, instead of letting the send fail.
- New
Need a fax number for just a little while? Every free account without a number now sees the one-time number option, your own number for 90 days, $14.99 once, no subscription.
- New
Sending a fax is a shorter trip. The fax number now comes first, Send and your page balance stay visible at the bottom of the screen instead of scrolling away, and cover-page details open on demand rather than pushing your document down the page. On the mobile app, scanning, photos and files are now one "Upload file" button.
- New
Sending a long fax? The status page now tells you up front how long it should take (about a minute per page), and you can close the page; we'll email you when it's delivered.
- New
When you cancel, we now show you exactly what happens to your fax number and when, and remind you once before the date while you can still undo it.
- New
You can now check whether your fax number can be ported to FaxTerra before you subscribe, free, in seconds, from Numbers → "Port an existing number." Porting itself still comes with a paid plan, and the page now says plainly that ported numbers must be US or Canadian.
- New
Porting wizard: one more question so partial ports go through
Porting wizard: one new question about whether other numbers remain on your current account, so partial ports go through without carrier rejections.
- New
If a document preview fails to load on the send page, you now see a clear message and a retry button instead of an endless loading spinner. Your file stays attached either way.
- New
You can now bring your existing fax number to FaxTerra. Porting a US or Canada number in is free with any paid plan, and your current fax service keeps working until the transfer completes. Start it from Numbers → "Port an existing number." Your number stays yours: if you ever leave, you can take it with you, and we never charge a fee to port it out.
- New
You can now bring your existing fax number to FaxTerra, free with any paid plan. Start at Numbers → "Port an existing number." Your current fax service keeps working the whole time.
- New
Your number is yours. If you ported a number in and later cancel, we hold it for 60 days so you can move it to another provider, and we never charge a fee to leave.
- New
If a subscription payment needs an extra confirmation step from your bank, the email we send you now takes you straight to a page where you can complete it.
- New
You can now get a United Kingdom or New Zealand fax number on any paid plan. Local regulations require identity and address verification for these countries; the app walks you through it and your sending works immediately while verification (about 3 business days) completes.
July 2026
22 changes
- New
The mobile app inbox now shows your active fax number instead of asking you to get one, and the app asks for notification permission so you get push notifications when a fax arrives.
- New
Uploads that briefly stall now retry automatically instead of failing.
- New
Your delivery confirmation is now something you can hand to someone else. The email you get when a fax is delivered is the receipt itself, who sent it, the numbers, the page count, the delivered time, and it carries a link to the same receipt as a web page plus a PDF copy. All of it works for anyone you forward it to, with no account and no sign-in, so a client, an agency, or the office you faxed can confirm it landed. The shared copies show transmission details only; your document's contents and your account are never part of them.
- New
Signed in? The help chat can now answer questions about your own account, what plan you're on, when it renews, how many pages you have left, and whether your last fax went through. It can't see who you faxed or what you sent, and it can't change anything.
- New
You can now cancel your subscription right in the app, on the Plans page or in Settings, with a clear confirmation of what you keep and until when. No more hunting through an external billing portal. "Keep my subscription" undoes the cancellation any time before it takes effect.
- New
If Sign in with Apple hits a temporary Apple-side error, the app now points you to the email sign-in code as a fallback.
- New
After a delivered fax you'll see a quick one-time "How was this?", and your delivery confirmation email now includes a shareable confirmation link you can forward as proof your fax was sent.
- New
The FaxTerra mobile app can now send password-protected PDFs, enter the password when you add the file and we'll unlock it for faxing. (The password is used only to decrypt your file and is never stored.)
- New
Password-protected PDFs can now be sent without leaving FaxTerra, just enter the password when you upload the file and we'll unlock it for faxing. (The password is used only to decrypt your file and is never stored.)
- New
FaxTerra now offers HIPAA-compliant Healthcare plans, with a signed Business Associate Agreement, per-document encryption, and a 6-year audit log, for practices, therapists, and anyone handling protected health information.
- New
Uploads that fail now tell you why instead of silently adding an unsendable file, and FaxTerra accepts more formats. TIFF (including multi-page), GIF, BMP, and WebP, plus it can now repair many damaged PDFs automatically.
- New
Your Inbox now checks for new faxes on its own while you have the page open, no need to keep tapping "Check for faxes" while you wait on a reply. You'll see it's watching, and get a notification the moment a fax arrives.
- New
Ask questions in plain language right on the Help Center (and in the app) and get instant answers from our help docs, with links to the full articles.
- New
Help is now everywhere: a Help panel inside the app (no losing your place), Help in the site menu, and links to the right help article when a fax fails or when you're choosing a plan.
- New
If your new fax number ever fails our automatic delivery checks, we now email you right away and you can pick a replacement number instantly, free, no waiting period.
- New
A clearer dashboard and plans page: your dashboard now greets you, shows your plan and pages at a glance with an always-available Send button, and explains the two ways to use FaxTerra, free sending (with optional credit packs) and Send & Receive subscriptions with your own fax number.
- New
When a fax fails because the receiving machine answered but couldn't finish connecting, you'll now see "The receiving fax machine answered but the connection stalled, we're retrying automatically" instead of an incorrect "check the number," and we retry it for you even if you've never sent to that number before.
- New
If a subscription payment fails because your Link bank connection was closed, the payment-failure email now tells you exactly that, reconnect your bank in Link or add a card, instead of a generic message.
- New
The free-fax page now shows a clear three-option pricing panel (free send / one-time 90-day number or Starter / Business) so senders expecting a reply can catch it.
- New
Faxes that fail because the connection drops mid-handshake now explain what happened and retry automatically, up to 5 attempts over about an hour, free, no action needed.
- New
New Pro plan for high-volume senders: $29.99/month (or $299/year) for 1,000 pages a month on your own fax number, with the same long-retention benefits as Business.
- New
The pricing page now shows every plan side by side, including the new Pro plan, with clear per-page pricing, and the "Get your number" buttons show the price upfront.

Faxing your EIN application? Get a dedicated fax number for 90 days for a single $14.99, no subscription, so you can catch the IRS's confirmation.

If a fax can't get through because the line is busy, we now keep trying automatically, up to 5 times over about an hour, and email you the result. You don't have to do anything, and you can stop the retries any time.
- New
When you cancel, we now stop trying to collect any outstanding payment and stop the payment-failed emails right away. You won't be chased for a charge on a plan you're leaving. You still keep your number until the end of the paid period.
- New
Sent documents are kept for 30 days (Business can choose longer or forever), then deleted for your security, your delivery-confirmation receipt and fax history always remain. Viewing an expired document now shows a clear message instead of an error.
- New
The iOS app now warns you if a payment fails (one tap to fix it), lets you edit the number and resend a failed fax, delete sent faxes, see locked over-limit received faxes with an upgrade prompt, share received faxes, shows an unread badge on Inbox, and lets you edit your name and inbox retention.
- New
Visitors from the EEA, UK, and Switzerland now see a cookie consent banner and can accept or decline analytics/advertising cookies. The privacy policy's cookie section now accurately describes the cookies we use.
- New
Signing in is smoother: when you first click your email sign-in link, we'll offer to set a password so you can skip the email next time (totally optional). The login screen now shows email + password together, with "Email me a sign-in link" right there as an alternative.
- New
You can now delete sent faxes. Open the Sent page, expand any fax, and choose Delete. It removes the fax from your history and permanently purges the document from our servers (the recipient keeps the copy they already received).
- New
You can now set a password to sign in directly, no more waiting for a magic link email. It's optional: set one from Settings, or use "Forgot password?" on the login page. Magic link and Google sign-in still work as before.
- New
If a fax to a toll-free number fails because the line only accepts calls from US numbers, the fax status page now explains this and lets you resend from a US number with one click.
- New
If you email support@faxterra.com, you now get a normal email reply in the same conversation, no login needed.
- New
US and most non-EU users now receive occasional product/feedback emails by default (unsubscribe anytime); EEA/UK/Swiss users still opt in via the signup checkbox. Privacy policy updated to describe both.
